Sales (Software) Salaries Update 2023

Let’s talk sales salaries for Series A and B software companies. Here are the latest insights on sales salaries for Late Seed, Series A and B in 2023 - benchmarked average salaries, AND live 2023 examples of recent hires. The salary guide is for VC backed scaleups (London only), and all are base salaries, with a typical double OTE.

 

Chief Revenue Officer:

  • The range is between £150k to £200k with double OTE

  • Part time interim for £800 to £1,500 a day (no bonus, or equity)


VP Sales:

  • The range is between £120k to £150k with double OTE


Head Of Sales:

  • The range is between £100k to £120k with double OTE


Sales Manager: (Team Leader):

  • The range is between £70k to £100k with double OTE


Account Executive:

  • The range is between £45k to £100k with double OTE

  • This role has the broadest salary range, SMB £45k-£60k, Mid-Market £50k-£70k, Enterprise £70k-£100k


Sales Development Representative / Business Development Representative:

  • The range is between £30k to £45k


2023 Bonuses & Equity - Our Observations

  • Double OTE on most sales roles

  • Equity for VP, CRO

 You can expect to see higher salaries in London at US Enterprise software companies. Some individuals want to work in an entrepreneurial high growth startup/scaleup with equity potential, while others may prefer to take the higher base salary in a more mature and probably more structured business environment. There’s no right or wrong - it’s about finding the right culture and fit between the hire and the company.
